Data Integration
A Protocol for Managing Data and Processes
For the Version 4 platform of EnSite Safari Suite®, EnSite has instituted a data management policy and system based on a configuration model (rather than a development model). In other words, data in and out of the Safari System is managed largely through configuration of the system rather than development of the product.
The diagram below represents the working Data Integration Protocol for management of data in and out of the system.

In practice, this model is characterized by the following components and requirements:
Middleware
A necessary component for managing data and associated data-translation processes is a compatible communications component, most likely a middleware server on site at the EnSite customer location. The middleware server hosts and runs data translation and management services; communicates with both EnSite Safari Suite® and third-party systems via configured messaging services utilizing various schema; and may host and run customized business process automation for either or both systems.
Services
The user (or EnSite) must install and configure specific required services to enable communication between EnSite Safari Suite® and third-party systems. Examples of these are the EnSite Safari Suite® Workflow Manager Service and EnSite Safari Suite® Integration Receiver Service. Once these services are installed, the EnSite Safari Suite® software can communicate with the middleware server and provide process management information and management tools to users through the EnSite Safari Suite® user interface.
Schema
For each specific data integration project, the user (or EnSite) must deploy one or more appropriate schema used to coordinate data between EnSite Safari Suite® and the respective third-party system(s). The schema act as data translators, enabling automated migration of specific valid data types from the Safari database out to third-party systems and from third-party systems into the Safari database.
